| Four days after the papers are signed on a surprise divorce, Emma is feeling abandoned and alone. She is worried about supporting herself and her son and has taken a lousy job. Her friend Jacki talks her into an evening of fun, going out for some music and dancing. While Jacki is dancing, Emma takes a trip to the restroom to sulk. On her way back, she runs into someone who may make the evening much more interesting. And it's there the story begins.
Things move very quickly through the course of Always and Forever. There is instant attraction and steamy sex. There is a fun 'first time on a motorcycle' scene. Emma makes some definite steps forward in taking control of her life, which I really enjoyed. The ending of this story is strong and I enjoyed it more than the standard 'happily ever after'. One of the challenges or writing a short piece of fiction is fleshing out characters in a limited number of words. Ms. Griffith does an okay job with the two main characters, but the son feels like a prop – something to take out to make a point but not really developed. Overall this is a quick read for times when you're not looking for anything too deep.
