Amanda Winslow thought that she was happy with her life since her divorce from her first husband Gregg who had abused her one too many times. Amanda had stayed in the marriage until Gregg killed their unborn child-- a child she never knew she carried since she just was eight weeks along. Years later, she met Michael Winslow and they had a marriage of convenience that worked for both of them. Now Michael was dead and she was in jail. It was a good thing that she had friends to count on who sent her a lawyer she could trust. The trial was long and exhausting, and when the jury found her not guilty she was relieved that now she could get on with her life. Amada settled in Carlisle, Illinois and rented a small home outside of town. She wasn’t too far away from her sister so she had plenty of time to sort out what to do with her life and still be able to get to Amy if she was needed. Amanada had made many friends with Carlisle, but she wanted to be independent, something Gregg never wanted her to be. When Jack Lindsey danced with her she felt something stirring in her soul that she never felt before and it frightened her. Amanda knew that Jack could have any woman that he wanted, and usually did as he was drop dead gorgeous. Why did he want a skinny little thing like her? And why did sparks fly every time he was near?
Jack Lindsey and his law partner Wade grew up in Carlisle, but every time he saw Amanda, Wade had his hands on her. Amanda was not his type so why did he care? When Jack found about Amanda secret life he saw red! Jack was on a course to make Amanda tell Wade about her past. If Wade could accept her past then so could he. The instant Jake confronted Amanda the sparks starting flying and Jack became obsessed with her case, or so he told himself! Cyndia Depre is a very meticulous writer who pays attention to detail. Her novel entitled: AMANDA'S RIB is a good reader over all, but it lags until you get to chapter sixteen. After that it picks up the pace nicely. There is hardly any sex for those readers who crave that in their books, but I was pleased with the book overall and I never foresaw the conclusion as it definitely had a twist!
