Gracie’s Valentine’s Day can’t get any worse. As a matter of fact, her life can’t get any worse. Since her fiancé David is working late as usual, she is forced to go out to dinner with her parents. She is embarrassed by a couple occupying a stall in the ladies room only to find that the couple going at it hot and heavy included David. After a huge scene, Gracie finds herself single and homeless. She moves back in with her parents which is a mistake. Her father is kind but not very supportive, and her mother spends her life putting Gracie down and arranging the world as she would like it. Gracie decides to take back her life, starting with a new job as a Personal Assistant to a television star. Working for Roman Pearson leads to complications of its own, but has compensations when she meets aspiring artist Billy. Gracie learns a lot about life, love, and friendship, and mostly about herself.

This story is very hard to put down. I spent my time alternately rooting for Gracie and being embarrassed for her. She is lucky in the friendship of Cleo and Gretchen, but is too self-centered to see it. Her mother is hilariously horrible and many readers will see a bit of their own mothers in her. Olivia is the perfect dragon to guard the star. Billy is a wonderfully real character who definitely deserves better than he gets in most of the novel. Amazing Gracie is an entertaining novel that you will have a hard time putting down.
