Dr. Mindy Rose, a nationally acclaimed sex therapist, is a virgin. And she’s had it with listening to her patients’ complaints and unspeakable sexual fantasies. She returns to her hometown of Amethyst, Wisconsin, to find herself. She discovers Scott “Romeo” Romero fixing the house she has always dreamed of owning. Scott dated her older, somewhat slutty sister Lona, and was at the time charmed by the ten-year-old Melina Rose. He left town on a football scholarship and played for the Green Bay Packers before an automobile injury sidelined him.

Their contemporary romance, A Rose for Romeo, is the first installment of four connected tales by Karen Wiesner.

Story 2, Revenge in Amethyst, takes place two months later. Scott and Melina are engaged, due to be married in a week, despite Lona’s frantic efforts to get Scott back. Lona tells the press that the famous doctor Mindy Rose is in their tiny town, and one of her totally unsavory ex-clients goes after her. This is a tale of suspense and danger, unlike the traditional romance that preceded it.

The third installment takes place two year’s after Melina’s return to her home town. Reckless Rose tells of Lona, past her impulsive youth and looking for stability, rekindling her flame for Reece Childs. She dated his younger brother, who is now happily married. His mother hates her. Reece made her heart melt 23 years ago, and now…

Christmas in Amethyst, finds Scott’s cousin Sheila still waiting tables, trying hard to be self-sufficient and ignoring the fact that Police Chief Jeb Duncan still feels the attraction he felt for her in high school. A creepy customer - she calls him Jeffrey Dahmer Wannabe - - leaves her huge tips and follows her home Christmas Eve. She’s low on gas, and scared. Can Jeb save her?

Two traditional romances, two tales of suspense - the tiny town of Amethyst has enough tales to keep the reader engaged. The continuing threads and characters make for a most enjoyable read. The characters are engaging - especially Sheila’s adorable child Devlin. Author Wiesner lets the reader know you can go home again.
