Thalia, the Muse of Comedy, never knows where the vortex will take her next. But she is completely unprepared to headline as a showgirl in modern day Vegas. Graced with two left feet, but courage to spare, she dances her way into the heart of Ryan, a divorced rancher who is in town for a poker tournament. Though Thalia is immortal, her stay on earth is limited. Ryan, who's mortal, has a lifespan that is limited. To make matters worse, Thalia's father, Zeus, isn't fond of having his daughters involved with male mortals, which could make Ryan's lifespan even shorter.

Amuse Me is an erotic romp sprinkled with a lot of Vegas glitter and Olympus magic. I enjoyed Thalia's brief stint on stage and the way she coerced the staid and proper Clara to loosen up a bit and have fun with her. I also liked the way Ryan and his brother Carter reacted to Thalia's impromptu dancing quite differently, almost as if they were seeing different shows. I just wish the story could have given us more insight into Thalia's normal life with her sisters, and showed us how different a muse's life is from a mortal's. I also wanted to know more about Ryan and his poker issues that Ms. Gissendaner hints at in the beginning.

Despite its short length, Ms. Gissendaner, like Thalia, has a gift for comedy and I found myself laughing out loud at her heroine's antics. Amuse Me is a quick humorous read that is bound to please readers who enjoy a touch of magic in their stories.
