Marek Benin Verus is the envy of every man in the land of Britannia. Roman soldier by trade, he is confident, strong, and a great leader. All the women adore him but he will never give his heart to another woman again. That is until Janney Forrester appears out of thin air.

Janney is vacationing in modern-day England when she discovers a door in the ruins she is exploring. Opening the door, a portal, transports Janney back in time to the year 161 AD and at the feet of Marek. Sparks fly between and they cannot deny the sexual heat. Forces beyond themselves threaten to tear them apart but will eternal love prevail?

I really love a good time-travel romance and Ancient Ties does not disappoint. Janney is fun to watch as she tries to figure everything out while also trying to resist the advances of sexy Marek. But resistance is futile when you are dealing with Marek. He is the epitome of sexiness, think Russell Crowe in “The Gladiator”. The more Janney and Marek are together, the more Janney forgets she is from the future and gives her body and heart to Marek. Marek, meanwhile, must face his own demons and surrender to the love that he has refused himself for so many years.

Jane Leopold Quinn weaves such an erotic and sensual story, filled with incredible historical accuracy that you will be immediately transported to 161 AD. You are living through Janney as she tries to acclimate to life in the Roman Empire. You also feel her instant attraction to Marek. What is unique about this book, though, is the fun interaction between the couple and the Roman God Mars and the Roman Goddess Venus. Roman Mythology is so fun and it really becomes a secondary plot in this fun and delightful book. Full of hot and steamy love scenes (everything from masturbation to anal sex), this is one book that I couldn’t put down! I did think that there were more love scenes, at times, than actual plot and character development. Overall, it was very well-written and a wonderful romantic story.
