Mya Montgomery really needs a vacation from her ex, the wussy men who are always scared off by him after one date and her job. She gets two out of three but with the 'blessings' of the cell phone era she can't escape from her job. Carson d'Allmeida is one of those guys who doesn't frighten easily. He'd be such a keeper if they weren't embroiled in mystery and didn't have to go home to cities half a continent apart.

Jennifer Mueller got me from the prologue right through to the very last page in this excellent romance and suspense. The characters are great. As she tells it, Mya's life has definitely not been one of sugar and spice and everything nice in the romance department. She does have an eight year old son who's precocious and adorable though so it wasn't a total loss. Carson is a cop recovering from his third shooting. He's also a hunk that Mya falls in lust with. It's almost a mutual spontaneous combustion between the two. The author does a great job showing what a difference there is between her ex, previous men in her life and Carson. The eroticism is oh so fine!!

The true villain and the people who are just royal pains in the patoot are so well blended in with the good guys that Ms. Mueller keeps us guessing throughout. All of that plus a truly teary-eyed ending combine to make this one of the better romantic suspense books I've read in quite a while.
