| And There Were Beast, is the story of Morgan and how she found a life where she belonged. Morgan's friend Frank Lansing has died. Morgan loved Frank almost like another father. His last request is that she go to his son's home and inform him of his death in person. Joshua Lansing lives in a small town out away from everything. His home is a mile away from the nearest road, in the middle of the woods. He does not own a phone and his home does not even have electricity. By the time Morgan finds the town and heads out to Joshua's home it is already getting dark. She then must hike through the woods to find his house. This is the night of the full moon and all kinds of surprises lay in store for the readers of this book.
I did not know what to think or what to be prepared for in this story. But I found 'And There Were Beast' a joy to read. Jude Mason does a wonderful job setting the suspenseful tone of the story. The setting is very clear and it's easy to imagine hiking through the woods in high heels, frustrated and nervous about what you might find. The emotions of the characters are felt through the reading. You feel Morgan's fear of being lost in the woods at night. The heartbreaking sadness Joshua feels after hearing his father has died comes through clearly. The characters are described in full detail with unique personalities. The plot is simple and all aspects are fully developed. Although, I do have a few unanswered questions that really do not have anything to do with the plot. The dialogue is well organized and easy to follow. The story is fluidly written and is made for fast paced reading. For the above stated reasons I give 'And There Were Beast' 5 hearts.
