| Lilah is running the local kennel, trying to make ends meet and still support her junk food habit. She accidentally rear ends the truck in front of her. The owner of the truck, Brady, is in town for a short while as a favor to his foster brothers. The attraction between them is instantaneous yet Brady is hesitant to pursue a permanent relationship. He certainly doesn't plan on thoughts of Lilah and her struggles to linger in his mind, and heart.
Lilah's antics with her menagerie are laugh out loud funny! Her tendency to attract strays reflects her spirit -– generous, caring, and fun-loving.. She is self-reliant and unsure how to handle Brady's offers to help. Brady is a loner with a heart of gold. His feelings for Lilah have him questioning what he thought he wanted in his life. I loved his friendship with Adam and Dell, his foster brothers, who seemed to know him better than he knew himself. The dialogue was witty and sharp, as one would expect with a Shalvis novel, keeping the plot moving at a steady pace. However, for all the fun in the dialogue, the deeper emotions developing between Lilah and Brady were very heartwarming. Their sex scenes were at times fun and lighthearted and sometimes they were very intense and romantic. Reading this book will leave you smiling and sighing at the same time!
