Mary Beth Mason, 40 years old, lived in San Francisco, with her 60-year-old husband, Stephen, and their 14-year-old daughter, Aurora. Mary Beth had been a housewife and committee participant for the past 20 years of her marriage to one of the elite in a high-scale law firm. Stephen traveled to Singapore two weeks of each month. While on a trip, Mary Beth received a call about him; the doctor was at a hospital in Seattle and she said that Stephen had a massive heart attack and was not expected to live. Of course, Mary Beth questioned why he was in Seattle, but the doctor assured her that it was her husband.

After hurrying to the hospital, she met a beautiful woman who was blond, beautiful and at least 10 years younger than Mary Beth. As they talked, they shared that both of their husbands were older than the ladies, traveled quite frequently, and had had a massive heart attack. While there, the doctor came out to explain to Mrs. Mason that her husband had another attack and was now dead. When she addressed Mrs. Mason, BOTH women stood. What was going on here? Surely there was a mistake!

Caroline Mason had been married to Stephen for 10 years and they had a daughter, Jax, aged 7. When she met Mary Beth in the waiting room of the hospital, she could not believe that her Stephen was a bigamist! Well, they would sort it all out, but she was not dealing with Mary Beth or her concerns anymore! Ms. Ann Roth has done an exceptional job of exploring this plot and presenting this story in such a way that the reader is forced through a myriad of emotions. Finding their relationship with their husband was built on a lie, it was harder to accept that he had borrowed, stolen, and mortgaged everything possible. They were broke!!!!!!!

Another Life has a unique storyline and is exciting and emotionally charged. The two women are so different; however, their problems are compounded. This is developed so that anyone would love this story. I did!
