Lauren Chase and Sean Collins are madly in love with each other. Buying a house together seems like a logical step in the progression of their relationship, just like it seems logical to have their best friend Chad move in with them. However, things aren't as good as they seem on the surface. Lauren senses Sean is hiding something from her but doesn't want to say anything because she is hiding something herself and it all centers around Chad. An assignment in Lauren and Chad's Human Sexuality class opens up the possibility for all three to explore secrets and change their future.

The deep bond between all three characters is evident from the very beginning. The love between Sean and Lauren leaps off the pages whenever they're together, but it's not enough to douse their feelings for Chad. Sean has spent years hiding his desire for his best friend to protect their friendship. Lauren does her best to ignore her attraction to Chad out of the fear of hurting Sean. Their actions illustrate the kind of people they are through their willingness to put each other's happiness above their own. And Chad is just like them because he cares enough for his two friends to leave rather than come between them, even knowing he'll be ripping out his own heart by leaving.

Mari Carr has done a wonderful job writing realistic characters and their reactions to an unconventional situation. Sean's impulsiveness is what allows them all to even consider the ménage relationship all three of them have been secretly longing for. None of them anticipate the complications they'll be introducing into their lives, but they all realize there will be no going back. The only way they can be happy is to face their own fears and deal with them, especially the long ignored attraction between Chad and Sean. There are definitely some heart-wrenching moments in this story, but they all lead up to an ultimately satisfying ending. This story is an excellent way to tie up Ms. Carr's Wild Irish series.
