All the former Earth colony of Gaia wanted was to be left in peace. After hundreds of years exporting their planet’s resources to Earth with no recompense they’ve decided to declare their sovereignty.

Unfortunately for all of them Earth has gone to war with Gaia to discourage other colonies from declaring independence as well.

When Dr. Masters’ ship is bested in battle, she is selected by her captain to retrieve medical supplies from the Gaian ship The Promise. There she meets Dr. Jeffrey. What follows is a story with elements of attraction, confusion, betrayal and suspense.

I liked the character of Karen Masters. She is well written and the reader experiences her struggles with her superior male officers and her attraction to Jeffrey. I would have liked more background information on the Gaians and more depth to Dr. Jeffrey’s character but this was an appealing fast-paced story with a nice, spicy happy ending.
