| Caleb McGiever has been having trouble in his marriage since his wife Veronica went back to work. Between their working hours they no longer had time for one another. They decide to take a day together and go to a carnival. While there, Caleb runs into a fortuneteller who talks him into having his cards read.
Caleb doesn't believe in mystic things and such, but when the fortuneteller mentions his marriage was in trouble he pays more attention. Veronica had cheated once before, but she tells Caleb a woman from his past would reappear in his life and put his marriage to the test. Caleb listened to her describe the woman and he knew in an instant who she was. It was his ex-wife, Olivia St. John, and the first woman who taught him about love. Olivia is the only woman he couldn't resist. She still made him feel things no other woman ever had, including Veronica. But who believes in the cards anyway, right? What's a man to do when his past comes to haunt him? That's what Caleb has to find out when his ex-wife moves back to town. Things were already on the rocky road to nowhere with Veronica. How was he going to handle the only woman he couldn't resist living not thirty minutes away? Felicia Cummings has done a wonderful job writing a short story to answer that very question. She has taken a real life event that happens all to often and created a tale about love and the heartache it sometimes brings. This is the type of story that the ending will be seen and felt in several ways. Deciding weather it is a happy or sad tale is for the reader to find out. Ms. Cummings writes a candid story on a very old subject that I found to be interesting, along with a good dose of drama that is filled with passion and turmoil. Enjoy!
