A long stagecoach ride had taken its toll on Elizabeth Davis. It had been days since she had left Chicago and with each stop the passengers that had boarded the coach with her had dwindled down to just one, the stranger, Mr. McQuade. Chris McQuade was a handsome man and though he kept to himself there was an air of mystery about him. Not one for small talk he sat across from Elizabeth and would catch her looking in his direction ever so often. He had noticed the young woman when they boarded the coach yet it was now that he truly had the chance to look at her. As he smiled at her she quickly turned in embarrassment then smiled back.

Two people who would never have been thrown together were faced with not only trying to make it to Wind River on their own since the stage was attacked and the driver was killed, but in the course of conversation found out they were both looking for the same man. Elizabeth was going to meet her husband and McQuade was going to arrest him for killing a deputy. Yet somehow Elizabeth found herself drawn to Chris McQuade and he to her. It's not until Elizabeth is kidnapped that McQuade realizes he must do everything he can to get her back.

The author has given the reader a concise and interesting story that would take others pages to accomplish. I found it a quick read and very enjoyable.
