The unresolved conflict Victoria, Jared and Lara have been dealing with for two centuries is almost a soap opera! Victoria fell in love with Jared and turned him. Jared was in love with Lara, didn't want to live without her. Not very subtle as a new vampire he tried to force her to change, almost killing her in the process. So then he saves her life by turning her but still lost her love. Lara has protected her son from Jared through the years, knowing he wants to make him just like his father. The author makes this an interesting read with a few well timed surprises.
