| Elizabeth Reynolds has decided to swear off love after her ex-husband embezzles her money then deserts her. She is happy with her life and work even though it has taken time to get over the emotional strain and financial ruin he left on her. If it had not been for the support of her friends, she might not have the good life she knows now. She appreciates all they have done but she never anticipated that on her birthday they would send a good-looking man to her front door with dinner. William Carlton has a troubled past himself. He has gone through great lengths to rebuild his life even though there are some haunts that are not completely buried. After he surprises Elizabeth with the dinner, their attraction soon heats like hot coals in a slow roasted fire. She doesn’t know if she is really ready to fall in love again but William has the tolerance to wait. With a past that could jeopardize their life together, they must work with the present, to have the eternal bliss meant for them.
As You Wish is a most enjoyable story. I love the fascinating characters of Elizabeth and William as they try to overcome a deep emotional hurt, and even though their hearts are not open to repair, the devotion they feel for each other embers a small flame inside them while trying to triumph the obstacles. The other times their realistic manner adds some silly antics that make them come alive in the pages as they try beating the odds. Samantha Sommersby is an author that adds vintage to her characters and a dazzling romance with a blend of suspense that is truly absorbing. She spins great creativity in her writing making this an alluring read that I thoroughly loved.
