| Jerrah has spent the last year healing both emotionally and physically. She’s spent the last year traveling and camping with her dog Mocha. But when she physically runs into Cal, a local rancher, she’s re-injured her ankle and now finds herself dependent on Cal and his two sons. She is now staying at their ranch but old memories and raw emotions surface and suddenly the boys are calling her mom and she finds herself the only one that can get close to a previously abused horse. As she teaches them to trust again, she must find it in herself to trust and love again or all will be lost.
This is one beautiful book about love, loss and getting back up after being hurt and abused. My only complaint was that it just seems a little too convenient for Jerrah to just simply say ok, yes I’ll go home with a strange man and his two young adult sons to a secluded ranch where I know no one. But once I got past that part, I fell in love with the story. TJ and Reese are phenomenal support characters. They will have you smiling and chuckling at their antics one moment, and then sighing at how cute and sweet they are the next. Cal and Jerrah’s characters are well rounded and really fit well into the story. The chemistry between them is apparent right from the beginning. While the chemistry does not have a lot of sexual undertones to it, it is full of romance. When they aren’t being all sweet on each other, Cal and Jerrah are arguing because their relationship is full of passion and their chemistry is so strong. All in all, this was a fun read full of great characters and an entertaining story once you get past the initial convenience.
