Theryssa, the first woman officer allowed into the Star Guardians, has been given a dangerous assignment. She needs to find out whether space pirate Azar Xenelion is working for or against the Narthians, a deadly and vicious enemy set on destruction. The plan: to get her ship caught by Azar and his crew and then do a little reconnaissance. Unfortunately, she doesn’t expect the reaction she has to Azar. He’s a healthy, virile male, and for this primale woman, he’s everything she’s been looking for.

Azar is very suspicious of the ship just floating out in space. It seems too easy to pick it up, and his suspicions are confirmed when a beautiful woman is on board. She’s playing a role and Azar is determined to get to the bottom of it. Using the seduction techniques that make him as infamous as his piracy, Azar caresses, flogs, kisses, and seduces Theryssa to find out what her goal is. Azar holds a big grudge against the Guardian Command and all it stands for. When he discovers Theryssa’s true identity, what will he do? She’s the first woman to truly touch his heart since he lost his beloved and he’s not sure if he can give her up. But another game is afoot and neither Azar nor Theryssa realize that they are key players in it.

More than Male: Azar’s Prize is the story of the daughter of Theron and Nyssa, the protagonists of the first book in the More than Male series. Like her parents, Theryssa is an individual woman determined to forge her own path. She’s not afraid of danger, but what she doesn’t understand is her body’s reaction to Azar’s alpha personality. They prove to be a good match, though Azar’s baggage tends to create unnecessary melodrama. Azar is a strong and capable man and those qualities come out clearly in the story, as he battles his crew, tries to find peace with the authorities, and battles his own inner demons. Reese Gabriel does a great job of setting up the battle of love between Theryssa and Azar and making their capitulation to each other and their feelings true to their characters. Reese Gabriel always creates characters that are larger than life, but who experience the same kind of emotions and hardships as ordinary people. More than Male: Azar’s Prize is no exception. It’s a strong addition to the series.
