| Lacy Buchanan is a tenderfoot whose ex-boyfriend trapped her into going on an outdoor trip. Since they were no longer together, she went first and then he was going on his wilderness trip one week later. When she got sidetracked and lost from the group, one of the guides fell back to stay with her and bring her back. However, he truly is a partner in this adventure, but is not wilderness savvy. He is a stockbroker from New York City who decided to take a few days and explore his outdoors abilities. He is okay until his compass is broken when Lacy has an encounter with a rattlesnake!
Lacy is known as a goof-up and unable to take care of herself. She determines that she will survive this trip and not look like a screw-up. Since Sam is without a compass and does not know his way around the wilderness, he is readily open to Lacy’s suggestions. She loves that because it appears that he is sensitive to her and trusts her opinions. That is significant and Lacy needs to feel capable of taking care of herself. I love the fact that this novel is a story that begins with two people lost and irritated with each other. It takes only a short time for both of them to become aware of how enticing the other is. The sex goes from suggestive to sizzling in just a short while. The passion ignites when Lacy almost drowns?she realizes that Sam is scared, not irritated! Ms. James has a winner in this book! She creates a couple who are each at a crossroads in his/her personal life. They are looking for something more in life than the same-ole-same-ole. The challenges encountered prove that Lacy and Sam are capable of making changes in life which could improve with their personal merger. This book is highly recommended!!
