| Arden Walsh was the widowed mother of two little girls who were growing up too fast! They loved spending time with Arden’s parents; they were there when she went to her friend, Lida’s, Girls’ Night Out. Arden’s husband Jason had died 18 months before after lingering three months with cancer. She was lonely for some one-on-one time with a man who would treat her like she was special. Lida and her friends brainstormed different men with whom to set her up. She really wasn’t interested, but they talked her into considering it. However, there was one man in whom she might be interested…a college “friend,” Shane Donner.
Bachelor Number Four has a special meaning in this novel. When Arden queried the internet for Shane, he was the 4th one on the list. She contacted him but things did not progress as she had hoped. After a couple of disaster dates, Arden was disheartened. Was she going to be alone forever; now that she had decided to try dating, was she destined to failure? Ms. Megan Hart is an author I have never before read; however, I do intend to look for her other books. She has a wonderfully light way of presenting disappointing circumstances without allowing the reader, or her characters, to become discouraged. She has a unique skill of organizing her thoughts to present the best of all situations. She, as do others, goes from one part of the story to the other, but unlike many of her colleagues she transitions smoothly and admirably. She writes a wonderful story of a young woman with two children, working at a shop sewing special occasion and wedding dresses who needs to move ahead with her life. Ms. Hart presents Arden as a woman who is seeking something, but isn’t desperate. The sexual encounters, both real and dreamed, are tasteful and do not present Arden as a fast woman or one that is desperate. I really liked this book. Kudos to the author! I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a love story that has more than just sex!
