Lily Wheeler goes to the extreme for her students. So when she witnesses a terrorising attack on one of them, she vows to stop it at any cost, no matter whether it puts her in the gang leader's sights and on his list of people who need killing for interfering.

Police officer Chase Porter is back in his hometown hunting the man that killed his partner. But when his old flame Lily is targeted by the dangerous killer, he vows to protect her without trying to rekindle their past. But how can he possibly not be tempted when she's everything he remembered and more?

The plot of this book was compelling from the beginning, and draws you in to the suspense aspect of it from the first few pages with Lily's strong personality and her fearless attitude towards protecting those that need to be protected. The dialogue was great and revealed the stubbornness of both characters quite ingeniously because Chase was doing everything to protect Lily and she wasn't allowing him to push her away from the investigation as she was already too involved. The sex scenes were steamy and illustrated the prolonged feelings these two had for each other, yet with Chase's past it was hard to see how they could have any chance of a future. Yet as the saying goes -- where there's a will, there's a way. What I liked so much about each character was their protective instincts; Lily's for her students and Chase's for Lily. They shined through brightly every time, always bringing a smile to my face.

Overall, Ms. Good has outdone herself penning this romantic suspense, and has made me eager to read more of her works in the future. And lastly, I would recommend this to fans of the romantic suspense genre.
