Even though she's homesick for Chicago, Genera McCanton is pleased at the opportunity to have her latest play produced off-Broadway. Well, she's pleased until their producer and financial backer presents her brother for the role of leading man in Genera's play.

Edward Aldin, a gorgeous former model, turns Genera's world upside down. It's not just the resentment she feels at having to offer up the lead role in her play to the brother of the producer. Edward disturbs Genera on many levels. His suggestions to improve the play prick at the demons of her past, his talent as an actor leaves her feeling unsatisfied, unhappy with herself for earlier assumptions.

To make matters worse, Edward is also the star of a barrage of sexual fantasies she's had since she met him... Will she be able to banish the ghosts of her past and act on her passion? And when she discovers Edward has a past sorrow of his own, will she find the strength to help heal his heart as well?

While Backstage Affair started slowly, this reviewer found it to be a captivating read. The author is a master of internal conflict and her characters, particularly her heroine, handle the emotional baggage they carry with them with heart-breaking realism. Cleverly, the author hooks the reader with near misses and heart-stopping moments between Gen and Edward - both in the bedroom and out. This reviewer would like to have seen a little more emotional bonding between the two but can't find fault at all with the scorching sensual scenes. Ms. Dequaya is a talented writer - one to keep an eye on.
