Hope's dream of a career in Hollywood fizzled. Upset, especially after an encounter with a bad boy from back home, she returned to Bramble, Texas, with Plan B in mind -- marrying the town's football hero, Slate, who is now the high school football coach. The town had expected Hope, as the sweetheart of Bramble, to have married him long ago. Unfortunately, the twin sister she hadn't know she had, Faith, had come home to Bramble and whisked Slate off to the kind of fairy-tale wedding Hope had always dreamed about. Now, with her dreams already turned to ashes, the bad boy who has always haunted her life, Colt Lomax, shows up unexpectedly, just in time to crash the wedding. He starts off by kissing the new bride, thinking that it's Hope. When the groom throws a punch at Colt, Colt accidently hits Hope. Can this get any worse?

In this sequel to Going Cowboy Crazy (a Deep in the Heart of Texas novel), Ms. Lane tells us Hope's story. She has to face the people of Bramble and their expectations of the hometown sweetheart, the loss of the man she had planned on marrying, and her mutual love/hate relationship with Colt. Since I lived for several years in a small town in Texas, I can attest to the truths about the kind of town Ms. Lane describes. The town is just as much of a secondary character as Shirlene, Colt's younger sister and Hope's best friend. The townspeople are a force to be reckoned with from the unfounded rumors that she's pregnant to hiring a bounty hunter to go to Hollywood and bring back the baby's daddy.

The action is non-stop. You'll love the humor in the comments about the town and people, and the things they do to help Hope. She has a lot to live up to being the town's “sweetheart” and she isn't sure that tying herself to the town bad boy, a "motorcycle bum," is the way to go about redeeming herself after letting the town hero get away. This is a fast paced, fun novel I'm sure you're going to love.
