Al "Bad Dog" Lupas is pretty sure of himself and the owner of a successful if blue collar bar, but he knows that he is completely out of his league with the beautiful and aristocratic Barbara Grisloup. Barbara may be from one of the werewolves' most influential families, but she refuses to become a vapid socialite. She wants to be a private detective and she is her own first client. She has to find her little sister. The rebellious Tammy is playing least in sight has been seen with someone who is not a wolf shifter. Barbara has tracked her to the Dog House and has enlisted the help of the very sexy owner to both find Tammy and to alleviate her needs during her heat cycle; she just wishes he would stop calling her Babe.

Barbara and Al seem to be an odd couple at first, but I soon couldn't picture one without the other. Barbara, once away from her family, is much more down to earth than she seems at first and Al is definitely classier than his Dog House would indicate. I got a kick out of the references to kibble as bar snacks and breakfast food. The plot is fast moving and exciting. The author has created an amazing world full of paranormal creatures who are just like us only with a bit extra. They have the same foibles and prejudices as the humans they share the world with. Al's background causes some problems for the two romantically and Babe does quite a bit of growing up during the course of the story. If you like a paranormal romance where the author masterfully combines a hot love story with suspense and humor, this one is for you.
