Erasmus has been searching for a long time to find a species that doesn't allow him to read their minds and see into the future. His race has become so apathetic because of this development that they are beginning to fear for their survival, because they won't take mates. Why should they, if they know everything about them from the moment they meet? He's starting to loose hope, when he meets the woman of his dreams...

Alana is finally about to let loose, and in order to do that she's come to the place that is known for casual sex... a club called No Holes Barred. She's not really comfortable with it, but she needs to do something to get out of the rut she was in. As soon as she walked in, her attention was captured by a man that turned out to be the one of her dreams in bed. But it's only one night, and there is no way that it can evolve into a relationship, right?

I was pretty sure when I picked up this story that it had a lot of potential. Usually in romances (at least in my experience) being in some ones mind is a good thing, because the characters are entirely comfortable with each other. In this case, the problem isn't so much the mind reading but the ability of the person to know the past and the future, which I found intriguing. The race was dying out because they already knew everything about their mate, including when they were going to die, so they didn't have anything else to learn. Interesting, right? Unfortunately, not a lot of time was spent on that aspect. Erasmus was not really a strong character, I thought that he could have been much more forceful in finding Alana, and there didn't seem to be a lot of chemistry between the two that made me believe they were destined for each other. Her main attraction for him was of course the fact that he couldn't read her, but that's not really enough for me to believe that they are destined mates. Alana was out for a good time, and although she went back looking for him it didn't really strike me as her being desperate for him. It was still an interesting twist on an old theme, mind reading, and I would have liked to have found out more on Erasmus and his world and what makes it tick.
