| Rose Finerman had lost everything precious to her; her family and her desired career as a ballerina. The automobile accident killed her parents, her brother, and injured her so that she would never be able to dance againnot with her limp! She numbly sat through the New Year’s Eve dance in 2003 seemingly unaware of the crowds of “pretty people” around her.
Ryan Moran, a soldier, was at the dance with his younger brother, Brad. Rose had been a schoolmate of the two, but Brad became aware of her first. Brad, himself, was geeky; his small stature and his bottle-rimmed glasses often made him the subject of ridicule. He asked Ryan to rescue Rose; he told him the how the accident had left her with a limp and she could not dance anymore. When Ryan approached Rose, she was skeptical because a soldier meant war, and war meant that his life was endangered. However, his pursuit of her was sweet, sensual and intense. He helped her dance a waltz with him and, before leaving her, he asked if she would wait for him. She said yes…but! They exchanged tokens of their commitment, but their religious differences greatly concerned Rose. He left the next morning. Two years later, New Year’s Eve 2005, she was with his family (he had six brothers!) at the airport for his return. Would his serious injuries change their commitment? Would she ever dance again? Ms. Melissa Glisan has written a strong story with impressive sensual scenes which created a passionate read without graphic details. Her characters were such that it felt as if I was living the story; the plot was fresh and well executed. I truly enjoyed this story and recommend it highly!
