| Dante Dellacourt is an embarrassment to his family after his latest scandal. He's told by his father that he must get married or he is cut off, no more money, and no more job. Not liking the ultimatum, he devises a plan to find the most unsuitable woman to marry, then it won't matter that he puts her aside. With this plan in mind, he leaves with his cousins and their wife Meg to the refugee plane and buys that woman to make his wife. But fate has another thing in store for Dante and she is called Kaja the werewolf.
Before he can get Kaja home, the market place is attacked by mercenaries hired by Torin, the man who wants his cousins' throne. Kaja in her wolf form escapes but Dante and Meg are taken hostage to be used to draw his cousins to their death. Rescued by Kaja, they escape to the forest to find their way back to the Vampire plane, Dante's home. Reunited with her husbands' Meg returns to her own plane and Dante sets about teaching Kaja what it means to be his wife and lover. After one bite, he realizes can't put her aside, but Kaja isn't suited for the city or the prejudice she finds there. She needs a simpler life. The question is will Dante give it all up for love? This is my first book by Ms. Oak and I must say her world building is very imaginative; she puts a lot of detail into her settings and her characters. She did a remarkable job with Kaja. You can't help but love her and she is vulnerable but strong, innocent but sexy at the same time. I enjoyed watching her and Dante grow together as he taught her what it meant to be loved and worshiped as a woman. There is so much going on in this book I am sure my review isn't doing it the justice it deserves. You will just have to read it. Ms. Oak has written a truly excellent fantasy story full of action, with a delightful plot and enough passion to make you feel the emotions of its characters. I highly recommend this. You won't be disappointed.
