| Emma Hayward is a young, ambitious photographer striving to make a name for herself in hopes of getting a job with a prominent wildlife magazine. After hearing all the stories about the “Beast of Bodmin Moor” from her mother as a child, Emma has decided to use the beast as her first assignment. She left her mundane life in Malibu and traveled in search of the beast that would put her name on top of the photography world. Now that her car has left her stranded on a deserted country road, Emma is wondering if she made the right choice. Finally giving up on the car, she tries to walk to find some help. After just a few minutes she becomes terrified by terrible noises lost in the fog. With her mind racing she runs for the car only to fall and sprains her ankle. Soon she finds herself face to face with her beast, Seth Trevelyan. He comes ! to her rescue and takes her home with him. It doesn’t take long to see that Emma is quiet taken with Seth.
Seth Trevelyan is a man that prefers solitude for many reasons. After designing and building a motorcycle he runs into the beast of Bodmin Moor, the mythical black leopard that roams the countryside. Now Seth is not only protecting his new motorcycle design, but the black leopard, and his own heart as well. Instantly he’s attracted to Emma but thinks she’s only there to expose the beast or his motorcycle. After dealing with the fact that he not only trusts Emma but loves her, Seth decides to do whatever it takes to keep her in his life. In my opinion a few twists or turns in the story would’ve added to the enjoyment. Even though the story started slow, after a few extra pages I was engrossed in it. It had a good mysterious allure to it that I enjoyed.
