Silas doesn't know that fate has picked him to save the beauty when he finds a woman laying in the snow, the only survivor of an accident between a car and the elk he was trailing in the woods. She reminds him of his wife, whom he believes was murdered by his brother on the same night he was left for dead in his burning house.
This story was a wonderful rendering of Beauty and the Beast. Selena Kitt created a beauty that is fearless and never gives up in spite of her circumstances. Jolie retains her ability to love and treat people fairly while being smart enough and strong enough to seek justice from the man who betrayed her. Silas learns that beauty is a woman who is compassionate, loving and friendly, while he protects her from the man set on killing her. Wonderfully written, there is suspense and intrigue as these two form an alliance to defeat the evil man who has torn apart both their worlds apart. The sexual content is hot and enhances the relationship between the hero and heroine by being written in a romantic tone, the narration reads smoothly, and the plot line pulls in unexpected elements that as an avid reader, like myself thinking, I never saw that coming. For the romantic at heart this story will warm you and will leave you with a feeling that love can conquer all, a must for any bookshelf.
