| Queen Mab of the Otherworld has become greedy and power hungry and is not only endangering the people living in the Otherworld but the human world as well as her ambition has no limits. Maggie Donovan is the prophesized potential savor if she will accept her destiny, learns to fight, and uses her new fairy powers to defeat Queen Mab. It doesn¢t hurt that the messenger from the fairy world is a gorgeous warrior who seems to be as attracted to Maggie as she is to him. But what if Maggie doesn¢t want to save the world?
I loved the premise of this story; a mortal woman by accidentally killing a demon is given fairy powers that kick in her destiny as savior of the Otherworld and the human world. Culhane, the sexy warrior, is gorgeous, loyal to the people of the Otherworld, and in a very difficult position as he is not only in charge of getting Maggie ready to defeat Queen Mab and extremely attracted to the feisty human; he is also Queen Mab¢s consort. There are several other fun secondary characters including a rude, ugly pixie, Maggie¢s spacey sister Nora, Maggie¢s smart preteen niece, a witch best friend, and several other Otherworld characters trying to help Maggie learn what she needs to have a chance against Mab. But it is Maggie that keeps this book from being a favorite for me. Maggie is excessively whinny and takes forever to admit she doesn¢t have a choice in this and to get over it. I found Maggie very frustrating. She has these cool new powers, a destiny to save the world, a very sexy fairy warrior that is obviously attracted to her and all she can do is whine that this isn¢t what she wants to do. If Maggie hadn¢t been so unappealing to me this book would have been a 5 Heart book but I couldn¢t get past my irritation at Maggie. I didn¢t hate the book; I was just very disappointed in the attitude of the main character. The book is worth reading for all of the excellent parts of the story and maybe Maggie won¢t irritate you and you will love it!
