| Nora Roberts has proven, once again, that she knows how to write what her fans are most interested in reading. This is Book Two in the Bride Quartet and it was a complete success. This series brought four life-long friends from childhood play to a thriving business called Vows. Each woman had a unique place in this wedding business.
In Bed of Roses, the story of Emma Grant was developed. Centerpiece at Vows was Emma’s part of the enterprise. Emma had loved flowers her entire life. That passion showed in her dedication to offer her brides the masterpiece each wanted. The bond formed through the years by the four friends was magnified in this part of the series. The loving connection they all share will become even more evident when Emma stepped out of her comfort zone and made a connection with Jack. Jack Cooke was the best friend of the brother (Del) of Parker Brown. Jack was an architect who had helped renovate the Brown estate after the death of Del and Parker’s parents. This compound had become the home of Vows as well as the home of each of the girls whose business made up the wedding partnership. Jack and Del were always in and out of the compound and the two were close with all the girls and their lives. Often they helped during the peak working times. Jack and Emma were dynamic characters but totally opposite. Emma was sweet and wanted the entire package. Her parents’ marriage had given her a healthy foundation. Jack’s divorced parents had left him jaded. Roberts explored their relationship in depth. The book was impossible to put down. I loved her characters and her supporting cast. The plot was intriguing. The "happily-ever-after” was hard fought and contained several twists and turns. Sensuality was great but not too graphic. Each player in the series became even better known through this offering. I anxiously await the remaining books. This is typical "Nora Roberts” and I cannot recommend it highly enough. She’s great and this might be her best series ever.
