Daniela was kidnapped by local vampires. She woke in a cage, and then was cleaned up and given to the local werewolf alpha who was also a prisoner of the vampires at the time. Hayden, the werewolf, gets one sniff of Daniela and knows instantly she is his mate. They were promised if he could prove they were mated, they could leave. But when it came time to go, he was thrown out and Daniela was forced to remain within the vampire nest.

This novella is book one of the Tales of Moonspell series. I wasn't impressed with it at all. The plotline is very weak, too many coincidences, and the conflicts, such as they were, were way too easily settled. When he says she is his mate, she accepts his announcement without question. Hayden is thrown out with guards to keep him out while, Daniela, with no paranormal talents, simple walked out of the gated compound without any challenge from anyone. The ending was settled without even an argument after earlier threats of violence. There wasn't much substance in the story.
