Marcus is a high powered person on earth as well as back home, but he’s ready to go back to the place he came from. Marcus has been on earth for over a year now, and is beginning to wonder if he will ever find his mate so he can go home to Tanselm. He’s a water lord, with telekinesis and the ability to manipulate water being his main talents. He doesn’t want a mate, but is willing to make do in order to get back to Tanselm. His biggest fear is that he wouldn’t be able to protect his mate properly, so he thinks he’s better off without one. Oddly enough, he’s attracted to Tessa, who’s not at all what he imagined a mate would be, so he tries to ignore it. It’s just as well, because the attraction he feels for her is sometimes overwhelming, and the last thing he needs is that kind of distraction from his quest.

Tessa can’t stand Marcus; at least that’s what she tells herself. He’s so sure of himself and is definitely popular with the ladies, so why would he look at her twice? Sure, he’s attractive, but who needs that kind of hassle? She has an unusual problem right now. Her whole family is a bit odd, her brother has an ability to see into the future, and she has an ability to absorb people’s talent. Now it seems that there is somebody in the company she works with that has some pretty unusual abilities…

Tessa and Marcus are at each other’s throat at first, and the action really rolled along. They had a lot of chemistry together, but there seemed to be something missing all the same. I didn’t feel the overwhelming attraction was there. After all, they waited six months before they acted on it, and neither one seemed to be particularly aware of it before that. I could see it if they were fighting it the whole time, but it didn’t seem to be the case. Over all though, it was a good story with a lot of action. I like strong heroines, and Tessa definitely fits the bill.
