| Nathalie Mayer is a wedding planner/consultant. Her bridal business kept her very busy. The day this started, her twin, Nate, was marrying his assistant, Jenni. It was a perfect wedding until Evan showed up at the reception. Nathalie’s older brother, Jerome, had seen Evan in town and invited him to ‘drop’ by and see the family.
The Mayer family all knew that Nathalie and Evan had once been extremely close—but that was before he walked out on her six years ago without a single word. In the meantime, she had never heard from him again. How could he expect to pick up where things had ended? How did he explain his daughter, Polly, to the woman he always planned to marry? And what painful secret was she hiding from him as well? Many questions and all answered in their time. The main characters in Ms. Dixon’s book were strong individuals who had a lot of pain to sort through before facing the future. The sub-characters, family members, work friends, and acquaintances, were good, consistent personalities who seemingly cared about the two (and his daughter). The struggles they faced were credible and convincing although it seemed, at times, as if the two were never going to trust each other enough to take their relationship any further. The realistic way Ms. Dixon presented these problems, and their solutions, made me feel as if I were part of the story. I highly recommend her and Be My Hero to you.
