Todd Richards is an assistant hotel manager. Dr. Keith Anderson is veterinarian who is just starting up his practice. Todd and Keith meet when Todd’s Doberman is hurt. For these two it’s love at first sight. Within a few months they are living happily together and adjusting to life as a couple, when Keith suffers a terrible loss. While Keith is inconsolable he makes a decision that affects Todd’s trust in him and tears apart their relationship. Keith finally comes to his senses, but is it too late to get Todd back? Can they get back to where they were before tragedy struck, and move forward to a lifetime of deep and passionate love?

Ms. Brown has a way of telling a story that makes you feel what the character is going through. She also has a way of making a story believable. This story is mainly told from Todd’s point of view and that may be the reason that I can never really relate to Keith. I cannot feel empathy for him through his grief and loss nor forgiveness for him after what he does to Todd. If I were Todd, I wouldn't have been so forgiving towards him. The plot moves well and has everything you could ask for in a book -- love, loss, betrayal, redemption, mystery and suspense. I had a few questions that I would have liked answered, like who were Charlie and Tyler. I felt I should know them from somewhere, possibly another book. And what were the kids doing to put them in that situation with the rustler? What happened to the dogs? They started out seeming to be an important part of the story. But if you like hot m/m sex this book has plenty of it, most of it is really steamy. One or two scenes feel like fillers. Overall this is a good book for those long cold winter days.
