Who would’ve thought that a game of pool could change a person’s life? Neil didn’t. Her life was safe, guarded, but she was satisfied with that. But when she is challenged to a game of pool against Gibland Winifred the Third, Neil knows she’s liable to not just lose the game, but so much more. Gib has been wanting Neil since the moment he laid eyes on her. But he wants more than an occasional game of pool. Now Gib must convince Neil that there’s a lot of life to be enjoyed and he wants to enjoy it with her forever.

What starts as an interesting bet leads into a tale about a whirlwind relationship. Neil has made her life to be as ordinary and as inconspicuous as possible. She has built her life closed off from everyone because of family secrets. She doesn’t let anyone get too close and has built a brick wall around her heart. But then Gib comes into town and her foundation is shaken. Gib is unlike any guy out there and he’s not willing to let her keep her walls up. This story is a constant battle of wills between these two. The betting adds a competitive edge and increases the entertainment factor ten-fold. Once I got past the odd names and was able to keep the characters strait in my mind, I found myself enjoying this story immensely. Neil’s girlfriends and her boss made excellent support characters. Even though Neil thought she had closed herself off from the world, it just goes to show how great friends are at tearing down barriers and rebuilding them even stronger around themselves. In addition to the wonderfully entertaining characters, the sexual chemistry between Gib and Neil is very strong. They can’t seem to get enough of each other and despite Neil’s ribbing of Gib kissing like a fish, you can almost feel the heat rolling off of them. If you enjoy entertaining stories full of comedy and romance, go grab a copy of this book.
