Arrianna is on her way to Evanwood when her group is attacked. She had been on her way to meet her betrothed. Now she finds herself taken to the home of Andre Le Monte, also known as the Black Wolf. Andre was the only man Arrianna has ever loved. She had given her virginity to this man only to discover later that his knife was used to kill her father. He had then left, escaping retribution and leaving a broken hearted Arrianna behind. That was four years ago. Now Andre informs her that no man shall ever take that which belongs to him and that includes her. Afraid of the war that will come when her brother, the now King of Bethany, and her betrothed, Gunter of Evanwood, come for her, she must find a way to escape.

Eileen Ann Brennan has written an exciting medieval adventure filled with passion and intrigue. Arrianna a woman that had given her heart and her maidenhead to the only man she ever loved feels she was betrayed and used as a means to murder her father. She must come to decide whether she still loves Andre enough to listen to his explanation and give him a chance. After deciding to listen she must decide whether her love should come before what is best for her kingdom. It is understandable that Arrianna feels hurt and that pain is hard to forgive. There are many twist and turns in this story. Arrianna comes across as very young and naive. Andre on the other hand is very possessive and dominating, a strong alpha male that expects loyalty from a woman that he deeply hurt. Although as the story gets further along the reader may begin to see that things are not as Arrianna believes the truth will take you completely by surprise. I found myself shocked and surprised by the truth. The chemistry and passion between Arrianna and Andre is a force not to be denied. It blazes hot throughout the story and is described in excitingly graphic details making the sex easily visualized. The dialogue is well written and flows smoothly. It successfully conveys the thoughts and emotions of the characters. The plot to discover the truth behind the murder of Arrianna’s father and the reason of Andre’s following abandonment is fulfilled and easily recognized. Truly an entertaining story, Betrayed, is exciting and passionate. An intriguing adventure that is filled with surprises.
