Zoey Redbird finally has a sense of belonging. She has good friends who are loyal and fun to be with. She has more than one really cute boy interested in her. And she is coming to terms with her extraordinary powers and the responsibilities that go along with them. But when teenagers she knew before she became a vampire begin to die close to the House of Night School, Zoey knows something is seriously wrong and she must try to figure out what. When Zoey begins to suspect she knows what is going on she must face the ultimate betrayal and loss. Can Zoey deal with more tragedy in her life?

The second book in the House of Night series, Betrayal, picks up Zoey's story a short time after the events in the first book. Zoey is still dealing with the incredible events that took place and made her the new leader of the Dark Daughters & Sons club. She now has the responsibility to make changes for the better in the club and plan the ritual for the up coming full moon. But life isn't resting so Zoey can adjust and there are new threats and dangers again endangering herself, her family, and her friends (past and present).

Zoey's strong personality and increasing maturity are once again tested in this story and I enjoyed it immensely. Zoey has to deal with some very tough issues for a teenager but she continues to impress as she learns to deal with the hand fate has dealt her. If you loved the first book of the House of Night series, you need to read Betrayal! If you haven't started the House of Night series yet, I highly recommend you read Marked first. I am thrilled with this series so far and can't wait to read the next book. The mother and daughter team of P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast have done a remarkable job of building a fascinating world in which becoming a vampire is common, although considered unlucky, and where teen issues are handled with incredible imagination and finesse. I highly recommend this series for vampire lovers and teens!
