As an accountant, Jacqueline 'Jac' Harris lives a quiet life. That is until she comes across some serious discrepancies in an account that her company oversees. Now she's on the run, scared, and alone. Hoping to rendezvous with her sister at their small beach-side house, it's not her sister that turns up but a big, gorgeous, mysterious man named Blade.

Sent by The Shadow Lord from the Shadow Realm, Blade is to protect Jac Harris. Having met her sister Jo, he's intrigued. What he doesn't expect is the overwhelming desire that rushes through him when he sees her. After thousands of years, he's found a woman that could bring him to his knees and good intentions fly right out of the window.

Jac is the totally the opposite of her sister, the tough cop. She doesn't shy away when faced with danger, using her own brand of toughness to get through a horrifying situation she finds herself in. Blade, at one with the shadows, is weary. Many of his brotherhood have disappeared into the shadows, lost. Jac gives him back purpose and light, when they're together sparks fly into a conflagration of passion that neither can deny. It was so hot it sure caused my temperature to rise.

I absolutely adored this novel. Not a moment while reading could I tear myself away. I loved the world that N.J. has created. The Shadow Realm and its warriors left me intrigued and wanting to read more. I hope she has plans for more books set in this world. After reading the blurb, I went and purchased the anthology that houses the first of this series featuring Jac's Sister Jo. I was totally hooked, with the superbly crafted dialogue. Graphic well-executed love and action scenes left me breathless and on the edge of my seat. The ending is climatic, satisfying, and emotional. An awesome reading experience, which left me wanting to read more books by N.J Walters with anticipation and excitement.
