Hannah is from an alternate reality called Threshold, and lived in a deeply religious community all her life until almost a year ago. That was when she became shunned in her world, and cast out of her small community. Rebecca, a friend of hers, came to her rescue and offered her a place to stay on this side of reality, earth. But the elders of her council are looking for her, and will not allow her to stay past a year or the two realities will become unbalanced and disrupted. When one of the elders tries to take her back by force, she meets Adam, the town sheriff who comes to her rescue.

When I read the synopsis, I didn't realize the religious overtones would run throughout the book. Hannah is from a world that is run like an Amish community, only stricter. Normally, I wouldn't like to read this kind of book, but the author does a good job of not weaving the religion in and out of the story line, and never comes across as preachy. Adam and Hannah fall in love almost immediately, but both of them have some serious issues to work out before they can commit to each other. I thought the author did a wonderful job of building the relationship between the two characters. The problems are real, not just issues most people would wonder what the fuss was about. I think the problems were solved a little to easily for their severity, but over all it was a really good book. I definitely recommend it.
