| Emily has more than once in her life rescued her brother Bobby when he got himself into trouble. This time it is serious, very serious and makes the role Emily is to undertake much more problematic. Richard is the problem. And she knows she is in over her toes, out of her league. Jake Penvenhan is not a normal man, especially for a woman like Emily. But then she is stunned at the light even she recognizes, in his eyes. The feeling that overcomes her is akin to the feeling a mouse must have as the shadow of a cat falls over it. He is just so beautiful…
Jake knows that someone, and he figures it is his stepbrother Anton, has some plan in place and intends to pull something. He knows that Emily isn't what she pretends to be, but thinks the connection is something other than it actually is… I first found an excerpt of this story, before it was published, on a contest held by a particular website. I thought it so good that I was overjoyed when it was given a contract-finally I'd get to read the rest of the story. But one never knows if the promise will be fulfilled, even with a wonderful blurb. I can assure you that this completed novel filled every single expectation, and more. Delicious, with wonderful characters, neither perfect, but each finding something wonderful and certainly unexpected in the other. There is suspense-how is it going to evolve with Emily and Jake and the past each has? Are the bad guys going to get away with destroying more lives? A perfect book for all those loving a great contemporary love story; put in right on your ToBeBought list.
