| Detective Michael Weiss is sent to investigate the murder of attorney Craig Davies and gets more than he bargained for. The police department wants it cleared up quickly and neatly, he has a lover who is using him to get information on the big story and he has to deal with prejudices everywhere he goes. Despite a supposedly quick resolution with a dead suspect, things become more tangled for Michael. He has to deal with his attraction to former television star Sam Christianson, a possible suspect, and someone's more deadly attraction to him. Can Michael find justice and love with Sam while trying to keep them alive?
I enjoyed this book with its wonderfully complicated plot. There are a lot of twists and turns and even though you think you know who did it, the author keeps you guessing until almost the end. I had a little bit of trouble getting into the story, so it did seem to start out slowly for me, but once I got a few chapters in, it kept my attention and held it. The characters are complicated but fairly well developed for the most part, except for Sam; he starts out with some depth, but seems to go flat towards the end of the book. I liked that we got some insight into Michael and his fears, and how he handles the relationships in his life. I would have liked a little more closure on the sub-character of Tyler and his fate. It appears that all the characters had a complicated relationship with Michael. There are some m/m situations in the books but it is not often or very detailed, which I liked because it kept its focus on the mystery to be solved. I think is a great book for those who love a good mystery not matter the characters persuasion.
