Captain Faran is on a special mission: he must find a lion-like cat and a Great Mage. He, the mage Meric, and his men have been looking for nearly two months to no avail. When bad weather hits, they need to find shelter. And they find it in Bitterwood Manor. During the three days that they stay in Bitterwood, Meric and the youngest son of Lord Joss Daene, Eissa, find out that they are true loves. And Captain Faran is involved with Lord Joss. But they need to complete their mission or something terrible will happen.

Bitterwood is a story that managed to hold me from the very beginning. The story is well written and has a little of everything: a sweeter romance between Meric and Eissa, a more adult romance between Faran and Joss, and enough mystery to make the story more interesting and enjoyable.

The characters are well developed, each in a special way. Faran is humble, honest and takes his duties very seriously. Although he is not of a prominent family, he achieved his position through his own merits. His partner, Joss Daene, has a personality very similar. He also takes his duties very seriously and he tries to set a good example for his children. I confess that the romance between the two was the part that I liked most about the story. However, the romance between Meric and Eissa also has its attractions. Despite being older than Eissa (Meric is around eighteen years old and Eissa is sixteen years old), Meric spends most of the story being cared by him. Eissa is lovely. He has an innocence, a vivacity that makes you like him immediately. As I said before, the romance between him and Meric is more discreet and sweet because of their ages but not less important to the story. Bitterwood is a great book. I recommend to anyone who likes fantasy and m/m romance.
