| Raul and his brothers grew up in the same community as Angela. Their community is called Colony and it is one of the two known areas in the world where the rare jaguar lives. Raul has known for years that Angela would be his true mate but he has watched over her from afar to allow her time to grow and gain some life experiences. His family prides themselves on their strict sense of right and wrong so when Colony begins selling their mature jaguars off as mercenaries, Raul and his brothers make plans to leave. Raul claims Angela in the way of their people and since she feels the same sense of honor she agrees to go with them to find the other jaguar community. They begin the long journey to Central America, and on the way they begin to really get to know each other.
Black Seduction begins a new series about the rare jaguar breed. A lot of the history is given in this first book. The author does a great job explaining the traits of a jaguar. Just like humans, the jaguars have good people and bad people. Raul and his brothers are the best of the good people. Their very strong sense of loyalty and honor are demonstrated when they try to leave Colony. Angela fits right in with them since she shares the same core beliefs. We don't get a lot of details about what happens during their long journey but we know it was a time of bonding and getting to know each other. The pacing is quick with plenty of action to hold your interest while also giving us valuable insight into the mindset of each character. All the characters were well developed. The men and women jaguars are untamed and not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Fighting to the death is a way of life for them. I do hope to learn more about these characters and how they established themselves in the new community. Black Seduction was more about setting the stage for the series and I can't wait to see what else is in store for these wild creatures.
