| Alone in the world with no family, workaholic Tammy Ryan’s boring life is nothing thing like her dream of one day visiting Paris. Learning the French language kept that dream alive. A vicious attack after leaving late from work leaves Tammy dying in a puddle of her own blood. As she’s nearing death and through a pain filled haze she’s given a choice. “Do you want to live?”
Drawn to the woman even though she’s fatally injured, Marcellus Donne knows he has to give her the choice. Taking her slightly parted mouth as affirmation, his bite changes her forever. But into what? Roark Lanier is called to the Donne’s home when he arrives, he’s shown into a room and kept waiting. Chained to a wall is a beautiful naked woman. Her scent calls to him on several levels and familiar when he realizes that she is of his race, Roark is furious that she is being treated so callously. When Donne finally arrives, he’s shocked to learn of the events that have brought her here and to what she has become. A creature of legend. It becomes apparent that their lives are entwined and the future uncertain. Black Widow is an intriguing novel. The dynamics between the characters both primary and secondary kept me turning the pages and completely entertained throughout. Black Widow has a bit of everything -- angst, emotion, a touch of humour, explosive love scenes, some sweet endearing moments, and plenty of action both in and out of the bedroom. I thoroughly enjoyed reading every page. However, I would have liked to have seen more prominent secondary characters from Marcellus’ race, simply because it felt to me that Roark’s people were more dominant in the story but then they are wolves. I have to mention Stephen one of Roark’s closets friends and personal guard whose antics with Tammy had me laughing out loud on several occasions, I adored this character and would truly love to see him with a story of his own, he’s a rascal. Black Widow is a cleverly written novel that is worth reading.
