| Ever since Damian Rochester, a warlock and head of the The Coven, murdered her beloved father, Rowena has been committed to ridding the world of warlocks. However, when she confronts Thorne, as she has on several occasions, she feels much more than the desire to take his power. Determined to avenge her father's death, she allows herself to be captured and get closer to Damian.
Thorne, a warlock and a member of The Coven, has become increasingly disenchanted with the life he leads within The Coven. During a dual, Rowena scars Thorne with her athame. His interest in Rowena turns to obsession and he vows to make her his slave. Thorne isn't happy when she's captured, Damian orders him and his rival to share. Black's Magic is a sexy novella of obsession. The characters are intriguing and I particularly liked Thorne, a veritable bad boy who oozes sex appeal. Rowena is a strong character, driven, but when she's thrust into a situation where she has no control, she struggles to maintain her goal. Set in England, the British slang Cynthia used on various occasions, amused me. However, I wished this novella had been longer with greater emphasis on the characters and what motivates and drives them, especially with regard to Thorne. Nevertheless, this was an entertaining story with well-written sex scenes and excellent dialogue. Definitely worth reading.
