| Bianca Kirkland is the last woman anyone would suspect of being a "Trekkie." She's a bombshell, with a wry wit, a quick tongue, and an attention-
grabbing body. Bianca is the sort of woman every man wants for at least one night-and she's unlikely to offer more than one night. She's sour on relationships and disdainful of commitment. Her lifelong friend, Gertie, convinces her to take an acting role at a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas. When Bianca and Gertie spy "Mega-man" Colby James in the convention hotel bar, Bianca pulls out all the stops to capture her newest prey.
Colby's world is shaken when he recognizes the self-absorbed beauty queen from his high school days who had ridiculed him for being a "lameass." When Bianca slinks towards him, he recognizes a chance for revenge-and that one-night stand he always wanted. The right kind of sparks fly between Colby and Bianca, but their tryst turns into a surreal nightmare as Bianca, in her role as a Klingon Commodore, has to maneuver through a cast Klingons, Cardassians, Vulcans and other would-be aliens and their antics. This is a very clever, funny book, with a superbly described setting and cast of secondary characters. The dialogue is snappy, witty, and moves the book along quickly. The romance isn't very compelling, lost a bit in the slew of characters and plot twists. But the book does have some very sensual scenes and is ultimately very satisfying. Those unfamiliar with Star Trek might find the constant references to the series jarring and frustrating. Star Trek fans, in fact any Sci-Fi fan, will be thrilled with this fantastic wink of the eye at their beloved fictional world.
