Nicolas Drago, the king's champion known as the Red Dragon, was commissioned by the king to deliver a letter to the widowed Baroness Isabella of the castle known as Blood Keep. What he didn't know was the letter told Isabella she must marry either Lord Alden, her late husband's brother and her worst enemy, or the stranger, Sir Drago. The mysterious lady hold secrets as dangerous as Blood Keep itself and commands two armies of her own left to her by her twin, the infamous Demon Lord. The choices being what they were for Isabella, within an hour, Drago became the Baron of Blood Keep with its the dangers and enemies.

This is one of the best medieval romances I've ever read. It's full of mysteries and twists and turns that you don't expect. Every time you think you know all Isabella's secrets, she comes up with one more surprise. Isabella is a strong, capable woman trying to do her best for her people in a very difficult time period. I think every woman will want to identify with her. Drago is hunky and scrumptious. He's the kind of man a woman could swoon for. He's a warrior but he's still a man. That means he will constantly confused by his wife and the position she's created for herself at Blood Keep. He tries to understand and, because he tries, he becomes the perfect husband for Isabella.

I had a hard time putting this book down. The characters are all so real and the situations and dangers are so compelling, you don't want to leave the world Wend Petzler has created. The secondary characters, Michael and Gabriel, are called the Archangels because they served the Demon Lord in battle and now protect Isabella. Two more hunky warriors around the place just adds to the eye candy. The clashes between the new Baron and his Baroness are fun to watch as they learn to be friends as well as lovers. I know you'll enjoy this medieval delight.
