Penelope Coddington is the daughter of a wealthy upper class Englishmen. The only problem is her father has nothing to do with her blames and her for her mother’s death. Her mother died giving birth to Penelope, and Penelope was born with a red caul over her face. This caul has caused people to speculate and shun Penelope since her birth. Penelope’s only friend is the stable boy, Aidan O’Shea.

Aidan also was born with a caul over his face, but his was black. Unbeknownst to them these cauls mean they are special, and that both of them are marked to take their rightful place among the fully embraced vampir. This will be a good thing, especially for them because they have both always wanted each other. But class differences has made this impossible. But when they both are embraced there are no class differences to the vampir. But will they be able to get past those feelings and allow themselves to be loved by each other? They have all their lives been told not to associate together, that it’s wrong for them to be together. The vampir hope that these two will find a way for they feel that one of these two might be the “one”. The one is supposed to stop the Dominion and if they don’t accept what they are and each other the Dominion will take over Earth and that will be the end of humanity.

Ms. Bast’s world of vampire’s is very unique and totally wonderful. I loved this book and totally got wrapped up in Penelope and Aidan’s lives. The heat and chemistry between these two will have the pages igniting in your hands, or your monitor smoking if you read from a computer. Watching these two grow up and realize they can’t be together breaks your heart, and you root when they become embraced just so there might be a chance for them to be together. Then the secondary characters will blow you away. I loved poor Gabriel with all of his lovers, but still lonely and missing his mate. Then there is Niccolo with his wonderful accent and since he’s the vampir’s policeman he’s very strong and very sexy. I’m hoping that we will get to revisit this magical world of Ms. Bast’s and get Gabriel and Niccolo’s stories. If you love vampire stories then I highly recommend this one. So run and purchase and dive into the world of the Embraced.
