| Kierra works at a shop where lots of customers pretend to be vampires and witches and she is pretty immune to all their gimmicks. She has become friends with Dekker, a fellow book worm. The story is centered on Dekker and Kierra's relationship and all the people around them who are trying to interfere. This story moves at a fast pace and includes some violence. The author writes the story from Dekker's and Kierra's point of view using first person in order to convey feelings and deep struggles within the characters. The reader gets a good understanding of why Dekker has kept his friendship with Kierra platonic even though he has longed for a closer bond. When Kierra's life is at stake, Dekker must reveal a life of mafia like violence and of slave obedience within the vampire community which Kierra is forced to accept. As the reader, it is easy to be drawn in by Dekker when we see his compassion and respect for Kierra in how much he wants to please her and gain her acceptance. This is an enjoyable and spicy story of vampires created by Brannan Black. The main character Dekker is off-the-charts sexy, at times light hearted, at other times violent and has a secret which will surprise you. The sexual chemistry between Dekker and Kierra is explosive and will have you wanting more.
